Benefiting from positive news from US memory chip giants, South Korea's two major chip giants surged. Data showed that as of press time, SK Hynix rose 11%, and Samsung Electronics rose over 5%.

On the news front, on June 24, SK Hynix submitted a statutory filing to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system DART, announcing plans to issue American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) to raise 45.45 trillion won (approx. $29.43 billion), expected to start trading on the Nasdaq on July 10. The company stated that the funds would be used to broaden the global investor base, increase AI memory (HBM) capacity, and build the Yongin wafer plant and Cheongju advanced packaging line.

Data showed that on June 24, US stock indexes closed mixed. Most chip stocks fell, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down 0.18%. Qualcomm fell over 3%, Rambus and Skyworks fell over 2%, Qorvo fell over 2%, and ARM fell over 1%. On the news, Qualcomm surged over 16% after hours.

Memory chip giant Micron Technology reported after-hours results that far exceeded market expectations, surging over 16% after hours. For its fiscal Q3 2026 ended May 31, revenue rose about 346% YoY to $41.46 billion, and non-GAAP adjusted EPS surged over 12 times to $25.11. Micron expects fiscal Q4 adjusted revenue of $49-51 billion, vs analyst estimate of $43.24 billion.
