Chip stocks continued to correct: Western Digital and Seagate fell over 4%, Qualcomm over 3%, SanDisk over 2%, ARM and NXP over 1%, Nvidia down 0.56%. Hertz Global Holdings shares fell 41%, its biggest one-day drop since its US IPO.
Earnings: Micron Technology's Q4 sales outlook beat expectations. Q3 adjusted revenue $414.6B (vs $93.0B a year ago, est. $356.9B); Q3 adjusted op income $336.8B (vs $24.9B, est. $278.6B); Q3 adj. EPS $25.11 (vs $1.91, est. $20.49). Micron sees Q4 adj. revenue $49-51B (est. $43.24B); Q4 adj. EPS $30-32 (est. $25.31). Micron surged over 16% after hours; US chip stocks rose across the board after hours.
The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index fell 1.77%. Chinese ADRs mixed: UMC up >6%, ASE up ~4%; Youdao down ~9%, Alibaba down >2%.
European markets: Europe's three major indexes closed mixed on June 24. FTSE 100 rose 32.78 pts to 10461.63, up 0.31%; CAC 40 rose 44.78 pts to 8385.49, up 0.54%; DAX fell 153.22 pts to 24740.36, down 0.62%.
Commodities: International oil prices fell on June 24. WTI crude fell $3.34 to $69.87/bbl, down 4.56%. COMEX gold fell $133.00, down 3.21%, to $4016.4/oz. COMEX silver fell $4.58, down 7.39%, to $57.485/oz. Spot gold fell $110.90, down 2.70%, to $3999.21/oz. Spot silver fell $4.16, down 6.75%, to $57.43/oz.
